Ett av de offisielle bildene publisert av Buckingham Palace i forbindelse med dronningens 90-års dag. Her er monarken avbildet på Windsor Castle omgitt av sine kjære, alltids nærværende corgie-hunder. Bildene er tatt av den verdenskjente amerikanske fotografen Annie Leibovitz (66).
Verdens eldste, og Storbritannias lengst regjerende monark, dronning Elizabeth II, ble på sin 90-års dag i dag hyllet over hele landet, ikke minst i Windsor, 34 kilometer vest for London, der dronningen feirer den store dagen med blant annet familiemiddag på Windsor Castle.
Men før på dagen var det flere arrangement og programposter i Windsor til ære for dronningen, og tusenvis av fastboende, briter fra alle hjørner av landet, og utenlandske turister hadde møtt opp for å få et glimt av majesteten der hun og gemalen prins Philip (94), hertugen av Edinburgh, ble kjørt gjennom Windsors gater i åpen bil.
Dronningens faktiske bursdag blir vanligvis feiret privat, men i år var et unntak.

Butikker og handlegater i London og ellers i landet er i år fulle av souvenirer som feirer dronningens 90-års dag.
Storbritannia har ingen egentlig nasjonaldag, så monarkens bursdag er det nærmeste man kommer. Men, det er vanligvis ikke 21.april hverken dronningen eller nasjonen feirer hennes fødselsdag, men på en dato andre uken i juni. Slik har det vært siden gammel tid, og årsaken er det alltid lunefulle britiske været. Det er som regel hyggeligere å feire i juni enn i april…
Den store, offisielle feiringen er lagt til helgen 10.-12.juni.
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, som er dronningens fulle navn, har regjerende monark siden 6.februar 1952, og hun ble kronet året etter.
Hun er også dronning i de selvstendige samveldelandene Antigua og Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua Ny-Guinea, St.Kitts og Nevis, St.Lucia, St.Vincent og Grenadinene, Salomonøyene, og Tuvalu.
90-års dagen blir også markert i de 53 landene i Samveldet (The Commonwealth, tidligere British Commonwealth), da hun også er Samveldets formelle overhode.

Det første Radisson RED-hotellet i Europa åpnet nylig dørene i Belgias hovedstad Brussel. Radisson Red er et helt nytt internasjonalt hotellkonsept.generasjonen. Rezidor Hotel Group, som er en del av Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, og har sitt hovedkontor i Brussel, driver hotellet, skriver Travelnews.

Τhe most popular tourist guide of Athens for the last 20 years, Athens Guide by City Contact was released on April 1st, 2016 and is already being delivered daily throughout leading hotels in Greece’s capital, to be read by thousands of tourists and visitors, Tornosnews.gr can report.

The guide includes specially designed maps of the city center, the greater Attica area, Sygrou Avenue and Glyfada. Eight editions are published annualy and distributed among Athens’ hotels.

Det første skal åpne i Ronaldos fødeby Funchal, på den autonome portugisiske øya Madeira, allerede i sommer.
Så kommer Portugals hovedstad Lisboa (der han spilte som ung) mot slutten av 2016, og neste år åpner CR7 hotell i den spanske hovedstaden Madrid, der Ronaldo spiller på Real Madrid.
Det er den portugisiske hotellgruppen Pestana som står bak konseptet.

After a tempestuous build-up, the first direct Air France flight between Paris and the Iranian capital Tehran in eight years safely landed on Sunday, Euronews can report.
A row over Iran forcing the airline’s female staff to cover their heads when outside the plane put something of a dampener on the occasion.
Hostesses and pilots are allowed to refuse to work on the route, but those who agree must also comply with the Islamic republic’s local law.
“l’ll wear the veil since Iranian law obliges me to do so and both tolerance and respect for customs and cultures are part of Air France’s values,” said stewardess Laurence Priard, who worked on the flight.
On board, Air France’s normal rules apply, including the operation of a full catering service and alcohol – which is banned in Iran.
The resumption of direct flights is one in a number of steps taken to rebuild relations after sanctions against Iran for its controversial nuclear programme were partially lifted in July 2015.
The day after the inaugural flight, Air France reopened it’s office in Tehran.

Hilton Worldwide has announced plans to enter Serbia with the signing of a management agreement with Belaga Management Company.
The agreement paves the way for an upscale Hilton hotel in Serbia’s capital city, Belgrade, and was announced during a construction ceremony in the city to confirm the news Sunday, April 17, Hosptalitynet can report.
The 242 guest room hotel will offer travellers world-renowned Hilton hospitality in a prime location in Belgrade’s historic Old-town.
Hilton Belgrade is expected to open in 2018.
Conferences and events facilities will include almost 1,000 square metres of meeting space, including pre-function facilities, a ballroom and several large function rooms – flexible space for both business and social events.
Hilton Belgrade will be located at Kralja Milana, approximately 15 kilometres from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport.

Innbyggerne i Russlands hovedstad Moskva mener at de har verdens vakreste undergrunnsbane, og Moskvametroen er kanskje den største turistattraksjonen i millionbyen.

Historien om undergrunnsbanen i Moskva viser også Russlands dramatiske historie de siste 80 årene, og er et slags speilbilde av det som har skjedd over bakken, skriver NRK.
– Jeg mener at dette er Moskvas merkevare, og en attraksjon i verdensklasse, sier kunsthistoriker Jelena Zjeldoukova til NRKs Moskva-korrespondent Morten Jentoft da han blir vist rundt på “Plozjad Revolutsija”, Revolusjonsplass-stasjonen midt i Moskva, like ved den Den røde plass og Kreml.

Den 1.oktober 2018 blir Radisson Blu Falconer Hotel sentralt i Fredriksberg sentralt i København til Scandic Falconer, med 140 nye rom og et konferansesenter for 3000 personer, skriver Travelnews.
Scandic har signert en leieavtale med ATP om å ta over driften av hotellet, som er et av den danske hovedstadens mest populære hoteller og konferansesentre.
– København er blant verdens mest populære konferansedestinasjoner. Med vår nye Scandic Falconer, styrker vi tilbudet i det danske hotell- og konferansemarkedet ytterligere, sier Frank Fiskers, konsernsjef i Scandic Hotels Group til Travelnews.
Hotellet blir stengt fra tidlig i 2017, og skal gjennomgå en totalrenovering. Kapasiteten øker med rundt 140 rom, og hotellet får 300 rom totalt, skriver nettstedet.
– Dette er en god nyhet for alle norske Scandic-gjester som er glade i København. Dette blir et av Nordens største møtehoteller når det står ferdig. Snart kan vi tilby store møte- og eventrom til norske hotellgjester i København, sier Svein Arild Steen-Mevold, administrerende direktør for Scandic i Norge.
