St Peter Port, capital of Guernsey
Guernsey’s government has set out a number of action points it wants to work on to encourage more visitors to the island, the www.itv.com website reports.
It aims to create new ‘sustainable and competitive routes to the island.’
The States plans to attract more airlines to officer flights to and from the island. It also wants to improve connections to the north of England, Scotland and Ireland.
And it’s setting out to tackle a need for direct flights to areas of Europe, such as Germany, where a large proportion of tourists come from.
It will also look to challenge a reputation Guernsey has for being an expensive destination to visit.
Key action points:
Evaluate new and stronger routes to the island.
Encourage competitive fares for routes into the island.
Look at ways to maximise potential for new Aurigny jet.

The boat operator Bumblebee is hoping to rally support for a new ferry service from Alderney to Guernsey, Jersey and France, www.itv.com reported.
Alderney
The firm has been putting posters up in the capital St Anne ahead of a public Meeting where they’ll detail plans to islanders.
The company believes they could bring 7,000 visitors to Alderney in the first year alone.
“Transport links have been the subject of debate in Alderney all year. Here is a serious proposal by people who know the island and the business. It will put Alderney on the tourist map, has the capacity to transform the island?s economy and will generate renewed investment in the island. We hope as many people as possible will come along to our meeting to listen and ask questions”, says Chris Meinke, Bumblebee’s marketing director.

Lokalhistorikeren Ron Le Cass minnes veggen i tidligere tider.
