The Park Inn by Radisson hotel will be located in central Tbilisi, just off the capital’s main commercial street and only 200 meters from the former parliament building.

Construction works on this project started earlier this year and the hotel will open its doors in 2017.

The total cost of the project will be $25 million USD.

Furthermore international hotel chain Hyatt Group will open a hotel in Tbilisi and offer luxury service that can cater for hundreds of guests.

After Berlin, New Dehli, Dubai, London and Paris, Tbilisi will soon be the latest member of the Hyatt Hotels Corporation family, with a Hyatt Regency Hotel set to open in 2017.

The 170-room hotel will be located in the former building of the Ministry of Justice on Rustaveli Avenue.

The mayor of Tehran Municipality says the Iranian capital has over 2,000 tourist attractions that will take 35 days time to visit all of them, according to the Mehr News Agency website.

The city was first chosen as the capital of Iran by Agha Mohammad Khan of the Qajar dynasty in 1796, which means a span of over 230 years. A bustling metropolis of 14 million people, Tehran is Iran’s largest city and urban area, and the largest city in Western Asia.

The residence in the city goes back to 7,000 years old as indicated by the discovery of the 7,000-year-old remains of a woman unearthed in Tehran in N2014. Coupled with having been the capital city for over 230 years, Tehran has witnessed a remarkable presence of tourists from all over the country in recent years, eager to see for themselves the historical textures, the modern complexes and renovations in the large metropolis.

Mayor of Tehran, Mohamamd Bagher Ghalibaf, says regions 1, 12 and 20 are home to the most number of historical attractions in Tehran. Region 1 is considered as a historical and religious region, region 12 is the heart of the old Tehran and region 20, with its many historical and entertainment sites,  is the main destination of tours around Tehran.

Statistics-wise, there have been about 2,511 tours around the city by March 25 this year, and Azadi Tower, Milad Tower, Jurassic Park and the Birds Garden have been met with the most enthusiasm from tourists.

According to the Mayor, tourism in Tehran has created over 10,000 jobs; ?this year, Nowruz (Iranian; or Persian New Year) tourists visiting Tehran will meet with a completely different face of Tehran. This year, Tehran has become even more spectacular than what it was in the previous year,? he said, citing the quietude of the capital and lack of air pollution during the New Year holidays as the reasons why Nowruz is the best time for visiting Tehran.

Chitgar Lake is also mentioned as a new opportunity in the area of tourism in Tehran. The artificial and recreational lake located in the north of Chitgar Park, north-west of Tehran, was opened in 2013 and is expected to reduce Tehran’s air pollution. The total area of this complex is about 250 hectares; 130 hectares across the lake, and the rest of it goes for the coastal zone and resorts. In addition to natural recreational spaces, sports and cultural environments have been provided and Visitors are offered free services and facilities on site.

The Mayor also referred to various river valleys as another noteworthy tourist attraction sites which have undergone renovation and now serve as resorts with the efforts of Tehran Municipality in the last few years.

Berlin rolls on two wheels: The capital is rapidly becoming a city for cyclists. The bicycle has become a real alternative to cars and public transport and is an integral part of the typical Berliner’s lifestyle. Sightseeing on two wheels has also become commonplace among the city’s visitors.

Bicycle couriers, rental bicycles, and bicycle taxis are all now integral to the city’s streetscape. The proportion of cycling traffic has continued to grow in recent years and now represents 15 per cent of those on the go. This means that some 500,000 people ride their bikes every day in Berlin.

This can be attributed especially to the steadily increasing attractiveness of Berlin’s extensive network of cycling trails.

Australia opens state-of-the-art embassy in Jakarta after 2004 bombing

Media Release from the Australian Embassy in Indonesia:

The new Australian Embassy in Jakarta has been opened by Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.

he new embassy is the largest ever constructed by an Australian Government and reflects the depth of the relationship between Australia and Indonesia.

The new complex in Patra Kuningan, Jakarta Selatan, which includes a five-storey Chancery, accommodation for some Embassy staff, and a recreation and medical centre covers more than 50,000 square metres.

The embassy complex was built by Indonesian company Total Bangun Persada in partnership with Leighton (Asia) and continues to make a positive contribution to the local economy. During construction up to 2,500 local workers were employed on the site. The Australian Government is also undertaking upgrades to infrastructure in the local neighbourhood.

Ambassador Paul Grigson said the new embassy is indicative of Australia’s expanded diplomatic footprint which includes a Consulate-General in Bali and another mission soon to be opened in Makassar.

” The Embassy showcases the best in Australian innovative design and cutting edge technology to make the most out of the Indonesia’s environment while minimising the impact on local water and energy sources,” Ambassador Grigson said.

The Embassy complex uses low resource technologies such as collecting and using rainwater as well as solar hot water heating systems.

Extensive landscaping was carried out during construction including the relocation of four mature Banyan trees. The relocation is the biggest of its kind ever undertaken and has been recognised by the Indonesian Guinness Book of Records, receiving a Museum Rekor Indonesia (MURI) award.

The distinctive colours chosen for the Chancery are designed to represent Australia’s wealth in minerals such as copper, zinc, brass, steel and aluminium.

” The new Australian Embassy complex is not only a tribute to Australian creative design and innovation, but it is also a tangible example of a very successful Australian-Indonesian construction partnership,” Ambassador Paul Grigson said.

The Australian government began talks on the new highly secure facility after the original embassy was bombed by terrorists in 2004, according to ABC.net

Nine people including the suicide bomber died in the attack, and more than 150 people were injured. No Australians were killed.

In the decade since, the Australian embassy staff have been working at a number of locations across the Indonesian capital as the original building was unable to accommodate a doubling of Australian staff.

Abu Dhabi tourism takes roadshow to China

Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi’s Tourism and Culture Authority is leading a delegation of hotels and travel agents from the emirate to China next week, visiting five major cities with a roadshow, reports Gulf News.

The city of Abu Dhabi is the federal capital of the United Arab Emirates.

The visit aims to showcase Abu Dhabi’s tourism offerings to China, and to reinforce the existing growth of inbound tourism from China.

The delegation, which also includes representatives from Etihad Airways, will visit Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong over five days.

China is the third largest overseas market for Abu Dhabi, with 177,000 Chinese arrivals in 2015, an increase of 47 per cent over the previous year, and a 31 per cent increase in guest nights at hotels and hotel apartments to nearly 264,000.

Also aiming to boost tourism from China is the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah’s Tourism Development Authority, which hosted a workshop for travel industry experts last week to offer a better understanding of Chinese tourists’ needs.

Ras Al Khaimah is one of the seven emirates in the UAE.

The event came in response to a growing number of Chinese visitors to Ras Al Khaimah, and discussed China’s current and future outbound tourism developments. It also discussed ways to attract Chinese visitors to the emirate and increase awareness of the emirate as a tourist destination for Chinese tourists specifically from Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou.

In 2015, Ras Al Khaimah saw an 82 per cent increase in Chinese visitors compared to 2014, with the emirate’s tourism board planning to raise the figures further.
