New “Athens Guide” welcomes tourists to the Greek capital

Τhe most popular tourist guide of Athens for the last 20 years, Athens Guide by City Contact was released on April 1st, 2016 and is already being delivered daily throughout leading hotels in Greece’s capital, to be read by thousands of tourists and visitors, Tornosnews.gr can report.

Its Spring Edition is completely revised, featuring larger dimensions and intends to provide the highest quality view of local businesses to Athen’s visitors.

It is printed in 90,000 copies, will be read by approximately 195.000 tourists and visitors and can be found at 400 circulation points throughout City Contact’s info stand system. The guide is under the auspices of HATTA (Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies) and the Region of Attica.

The Athens Guide can be found until the middle of June at the following distribution points:

– Info Stands at 99 leading city hotels
– 3 Athens Marinas (Marina Zea, Olympic Marina and Flisvos Marina)
– Tourist police’s office on Klafthmonos Square
– Daily tours by Athens Walking Tours
– Embassies
– Tourism businesses, conferences and events
– Various other tourist accommodation establishments

More than 650,000 tourists annually read the Athens Guide and stay updated on the best entertainment spots, shopping, food, drink and activities in the city.

It was published for the first time in 1998 as a completely bilingual (English & Greek) guide to Athens and is now offered in Chinese and Russian as well.

The guide includes specially designed maps of the city center, the greater Attica area, Sygrou Avenue and Glyfada. Eight editions are published annualy and distributed among Athens’ hotels.    

The 2016 Athens Guide includes:

– Practical information (useful numbers, emergency numbers, taxi services, postal offices, country codes, etc.)
– Complete guide in Chinese and Russian language.
– Excursions in Athens and surrounding areas
– Sightseeing & culture
– Health & safety
– Shopping
– Traditional Greek Products
– Food and Dining
– Entertainment & Nightlife
– Maps

City Contact developed the Info Stand system in 1996 which provides visitors useful information through free publications throughout Greece such as maps, visitors guides and other printed informational material and has been managing it ever since.

The company works exclusively with 200 of the top hotels in Greece in the major tourist areas of the country such as Athens, Crete, Rhodes, Santorini and Thessaloniki.

City Contact distributes annually via the Info Stand network more than 2 million publication copies to visitors in these areas in order to fully cover the informational requirements of the hotels and their clients. 

The current guide’s issue includes special features on Monastiraki, Thissio and Psiri neighbourhoods of Athens as well as a welcoming message from Attica Region Governor Rena Dourou.
