150.000 har reist med hurtigtoget – svenskenes prestisjetog X2000 – mellom Oslo og Stockholm siden SJ (tidligere Statens Järnväger) startet opp togtilbudet fra Oslo i august 2015, skriver nrk.no
Nå har hurtigtoget blitt en kjempehit, sier Caroline Åstrand, som er prosjektdirektør i SJ. Hun hadde ikke drømt om at hurtigtoget skulle bli tatt så godt imot.
– Vi er kjempefornøyde. Det har gått veldig bra. Reisende på strekningen fra Oslo til Stockholm har hatt en økning på 50 prosent.
Reisetiden er på fire og en halv time.

Enkelte Restauranter i Oslo ilegger nå gjestene et gebyr hvis vedkommende avlyser bordbestillingen i siste liten, og nå diskuterer andre restauranter å gjøre det samme, skriver NRK.no
Mikael Svensson, som driver restauranten Kontrast i Maridalsveien er blant dem som har innført et såkalt «no show»-gebyr, som et resultat av at flere gjester aldri dukker opp, eller avlyser bordbestillingen i siste liten.
– Noen ganger har det vært ekstreme antall gjester. Det er lov å endre planer, men det er dårlig stil å ikke gi beskjed, sier Mikael Svensson til NRK
Kontrast har 14 bord, og dersom flere står tomme kan det fort bli et økonomisk problem, sier Svensson videre.
– Vi kjøper daglig inn ferske råvarer ut fra antall bordreservasjoner, og forbereder maten lenge før gjestene kommer. Det blir kostbart i lengden hvis vi skal servere kongekrabbe, sjøkreps og and til personalet istedet, restauranteieren.
Sommeren 2015 innførte Kontrast en avgift på tusen kroner per person, dersom bestillingen ikke kanselleres før klokken to samme dag. Større selskaper med forhåndsbestilt meny må gi beskjed 48 timer i forveien.

The Honorary Consulate of Belarus opened in the Macedonian capital city Skopje on 18 March. The Honorary Consul of Belarus to Macedonia, Mr Borche Markovski, assumed his office on the same day, reports the Belarus news agency BelTA.

When speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador of Belarus to Serbia and concurrently to Macedonia, Mr Vladimir Chushev stressed that Belarus is interested in developing mutually beneficial relations with Macedonia. He emphasized the importance of trade and economic cooperation and interregional links.
An official reception was given on behalf of the Ambassador and the Honorary Consul on the occasion of the opening of the Honorary Consulate. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of other ministries, the mayor’s office of Skopje, the doyen of the diplomatic corps in Macedonia, representatives of the business community and the public.

USAs president Barack Obama skrev historie da han satte sin fot på kubansk jord søndag kveld. Presidentflyet Air Force One landet kl.16:19 lokal tid.
Det er første gang på 88 år at en amerikansk president besøker Cuba. Den forrige var Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933), som besøkte landet i 1928.
Det hvite hus og Obama sendte ut følgende Twitter-melding da presidenten steg ut av Air Force One:
?¿Qué bolá Cuba?? (som er kubansk slang for “what’s up”),
På Jose Marti internasjonale flyplass i Havanna ble Barack Obama (54), kona Michelle (52) døtrene Malia (17) og Sasha (14), og førstedamens mor Marian Robinson (78), som bor i Det hvite hus, tatt imot, i øsende regnvær, av Cubas utenriksminister Bruno Rodriguez Parilla, før turen gikk til den amerikanske ambassaden, som ble åpnet i fjor etter å ha vært stengt i 54 år.
Med i delegasjonen er også utenriksminister John Kerry, 40 kongressmedlemmer, samt flere næringslivsledere og kubansk-amerikanere.
Etter møtet med de ansatte på ambassaden, la det store følget ut på spasertur i Havannas gater, blant annet med omvisning hovedstadens katedral fra 1777, der kardinal Jaime Ortega var guide.
Hus og fasader langs ruten var pusset om nymalt i forbindelse med presidentbesøket.
Presidenten og følget spiste middag på et av Havannas beste spisesteder, den privateide restauranten San Cristobal, i et heller slitent strøk av den kubanske hovedstaden.
Mandag startet den offisielle delen av besøket, der den amerikanske presidenten og følget ble tatt imot av president Raoul Castro (84) i Revolusjonspalasset, der han har sine kontorer, med æresgarde, nasjonalsanger og det som hører med.
Mandag kveld holdt de to lederne en felles pressekonferanse.

Millioner av mennesker i hele 178 land og territorier verden over deltok 19.mars i den årlige Earth Hour-markeringen, der lysene ble slukket i en time i både private boliger, bedrifter og offentlige bygg, samt en lang rekke kjente landemerker og turistattraksjoner.
Her hjemme ble både Slottet, Operahuset og Stortinget mørklagt, det samme ble Eiffeltårnet i Paris, Parlamentsbygget med Big Ben-tårnet i London, Taipei 101 på Taiwan, Empire State Building i New York, Operahuset i Sydney, Marina Bay i Singapore, og Kreml i Moskva.
Også storbyene Mumbai i India, Shanghai i Kina, Bangkok i Thailand slukket lysene.

The Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi, inaugurated the new Indonesian honorary consulate in Palestine in an event in Amman, Jordan, on Sunday after Israel denied her entrance to Rammalah following Indonesia’s push to boycott Israeli products, reports The Jakarta Post website.
The inauguration was conducted in the Jordanian capital not long after Mrs Retno and her delegation were headed for Ramallah. Israel denied issuing an overflight permit for a Jordanian air force helicopter transporting the foreign minister to Ramallah, according to the Indonesian Cabinet Secretary website on Sunday.
Alternatively, Indonesia held the inauguration at the Indonesia Embassy in Amman. Mrs Retno also inaugurated Maha Abu-Shuhseh as honorary consul to Palestine.
Palestinian Foreign Affairs Minister Riyad al-Maliki, Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Teguh Wardoyo and other Indonesian and Palestinian officials observed the inauguration ceremony.
The opening of the honorary consulate is a manifest of Indonesia’s support to Palestine’s freedom, foreign minister Retno said.
She asked consul Maha Abu- Shusheh to have an active role in boosting bilateral ties between the two countries.
“I hope Indonesia’s consul in Ramallah can connect Indonesians and Palestinians,” she said, adding that the office also served to provide protection to Indonesians and as a body for economic and social-cultural cooperation.
Indonesia’s honorary consul in Ramallah is the first among 41 embassies and foreign consulates in Ramallah. Other foreign honorary consuls to Palestine are located in Bethlehem.
Indonesia and Palestine trade relations recorded an increase to $3.67 million in 2015, from $1.02 million in 2014. Around 50,000 Indonesians visit Palestine every year , including Muslims and Christians for pilgrimage purposes.

Mexico has opened a honorary consulate in the Belarus capital Minsk, reports the Belarus News – BELTA news agency.
” The opening of the consulate will contribute to the development of trade and economic cooperation and will give an opportunity to the people of the two countries to learn more about each other, about culture, history and traditions of the two nations,” Honorary Consul of Mexico in Belarus Mr Yuri Morozov said at the opening.
Mexican Ambassador in Russia and concurrently to Belarus Mr Ruben Alberto Beltran Guerrero emphasized that the relations with Belarus are very important for Mexico. He said that the opening of the consulate will enable the two countries to continue to work in three main areas.
” Such a step will give a greater impetus to the Belarusian-Mexican economic cooperation, especially in trade and investment. We would also like to take this moment to tell residents of Minsk and Belarus more about Mexican culture,” the ambassador said.
The third area, which is regarded as a priority in the bilateral relations, is tourism. “We would like to see more of our Belarusian friends visit Mexico and take advantage of the opportunities that we offer for holidaying,” Ambassador Beltran said.
“The opening of the consulate shows Mexico’s willingness to develop and deepen its relations with Belarus. On the part of Belarus this is a gesture of hospitality,? the ambassador said.

Det amerikanske hotell-konsernet Starwood skal ta over driften av to hoteller i Havanna på Cuba i år, og har skrevet intensjonsavtale med kubanske myndigheter om et tredje hotell, melder nrk.no
Starwood skal investere millioner av dollar på å renovere og gjenåpne hotellene Quinta Avenida, Santa Isabel og Inglaterra, samt ansette og lære opp nytt personale.
Dette blir de første amerikanske hotell-etableringene på Cuba siden revolusjonen i 1959.
Alle hotellene på Cuba er idag eid av statlige selskaper.

Den britiske avisa The Times skriver at Jermyn Street Theater i Londons West End har annonsert at de vil forsøke noe nytt for å avskrekke folk fra å bruke mobiltelefonen under forestillingen, skriver Dagbladet.
Ideen er hentet fra Kina, der store teatre i Beijing og Shanghai Shanghai peker en laserstråle mot personer i salen som holder på med mobiltelefonen. Håpet er at uthengingen skal gjøre at andre tenker seg om en ekstra gang før de gjør det samme.
Teaterne mener at også dette kan være distraherende, men at det alt i alt er mindre irriterende enn de lysende skjermene på smarttelefonene, skriver The Times.
Kunstnerisk leder ved Jermyn Street Theatre, Anthony Biggs, synes det er verdt det.
– Det er så mye av det at vi må finne en måte å stoppe det på. Det er ikke effektivt nok å bare sende en montasje av telefoner som ringer før forestillingen starter. Jeg synes vi skal bruke laserstråler. At noen sitter ved siden av deg med telefonen på, bare såvidt innenfor synsfeltet, gjør deg irrasjonelt sint. Det er ikke nødvendigvis ulovlig, men du får lyst til å drepe dem likevel, sier han til The Times antakeligvis uten å mene det siste for bokstavelig.
