Bougainville kan bli verdens nyeste nasjon, melder nyhetsbyrået AFP, ifølge NRK. Innbyggerne på øygruppa i Stillehavet skal stemme over selvstendighet fra Papua Ny-Guinea. Velgerne skal stemme over forslaget de neste to ukene. Folkeavstemmingen har vært utsatt flere ganger. Resultatene er ventet rundt 15. desember.
Bougainville, som i flere år har vært utsatt for uroligheter, er en autonom region med utstrakt indre selvstyre. Regionen har rundt 250,000 innbyggere. Hovedstaden er Buka, på øya av samme navn.

Flere pakker med kjøtt merket med Rema 1000 har blitt funnet i en butikk på Fakarava-atollen i Fransk Polynesia i Stillehavet. En norsk familie på jordomseiling fant pakkene. Rema 1000 sier de ikke distribuerer kjøtt dit, og frykter smugling fra Uruguay, melder NRK.

Sosialdemokraten Jacinda Ardern (37), som blir landets yngste statsminister gjennom tidene, sier hun alltid har vært åpen for at folk ikke skal fengsles for personlig bruk av cannabis, melder nyhetsbyrået AP.
Det konservative National Party,som har styrt siden 2008, ble største parti etter valget nylig, men mangler rent flertall. Det høyrepopulistiske partiet New Zealand First kom på vippen, og valgte etter regjeringssamtaler med både regjeringspartiet og sosialdemokratene å støtte New Zealand Labour Party.

Wellington is the best place in New Zealand for tourists to have a pint, according to a new Lonely Planet guide written specifically for beer-lovers, nzherald.co.nz reported.
A worldwide network of travel writers and beer journalists have contributed to the guide, covering the best bars and breweries in 30 countries.
Wellington, capital city of New Zealand, and Melbourne and Perth in Australia, are the pick of the Oceania region, the book says.
“It might be wet and windy for much of the year in Wellington but there are always sunny fruit flavours in a pint glass to banish the blues with New Zealand’s distinctively tropical take on pale ale and IPA,” it says.
“Wellington has an extremely strong array of breweries and craft beer bars, making it a compact and cool city to tour.”
Melbourne is Australia’s “ale capital” while Perth is home to some of Australia’s first craft brewers, according to the book.
Auckland, Blenheim, Dunedin and Hamilton are also highlighted as beer-related spots to visit in New Zealand.
The book guides tourists to the best breweries to visit in each city, as well as each brewery’s must-try beer. A few local sights are also included for tourists who manage to leave the pub.
Lonely Planet’s Global Beer Tour will be published in May.
