Ponta Delgada is one of three capital cities on the Azores, as the seat of the regional government. The others are Horta, on the island of Faial, as seat of the regional assembly, and Angra do Heroismo, on Terceira island, is the seat of the supreme court.
Ponta Delgada is generally regarded as the capital city of the Azores.
