Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department is about to cooperate with museums and business professional communities to make the Indonesian capital city’s museums more attractive to visitors, reports tempo.co 

According to the department, the museums could not be a tourist destination yet. Whereas in other countries, it is the main destination.

The Department plans to cooperate with a group of professionals and businessmen as well as cultural groups that have programs to increase the potential for tourism.

“They have a program, we support it because the cost is expensive for renting Event Organizer (EO). We seemed to be the sole manager. Whereas, we need the intervention of them too,” said Head of Department Catur Laswanto.

The department also intends to intensively develop Kota Tua area, West Jakarta. The site will be made the icon of Jakarta City.

“Kota Tua has historical value and long history of Indonesian culture. It is not easy work. I have to coordinate with many parties,” he said.

Nytt gulv ble lagt i julen, og lobbyen blir utvidet med barområde og sittegrupper. Den store resepsjonsdisken blir fjernet, og videre skal Palmen også bli mer bar, men fortsatt også være restaurant.

Limelight Bar skal integreres i lobbyområdet, og hele lobbyen vil fremstå i ny drakt, sier hotelldirektør Fredrikke Næss til HRR Nett.

Hun håper lobbyen skal bli et møtested både for hotellgjestene og hovedstadens innbyggere, et sted for såkalt “chillout”.

På spørsmål om hva som skjer med den nå stengte Grand Cafe, sier Fredrikke Næss dette:

-Mange har kontaktet oss med ideer og forslag til hva som skal skje i Grand Cafe. Det setter vi stor pris på, og det skjer nok noe i løpet av 2016. Vi snakker jo om noen av de best beliggende lokalene i Oslo.

Nepal and Bhutan has agreed on a six-point agenda to boost air connectivity and tourism between the two land-locked countries, reports the Kathmandu Post newspaper.

Nepal’s Tourism Ministry and the Ministry of Information and Communications of Bhutan has signed a memorandum of understanding to formalise the agendas in the near future.

As per the initial consultation agreement, the two countries have decided to give permanent status to the air service agreement (ASA) signed and revised in different periods. Nepal and Bhutan signed the ASA in February 2004, which had allowed seven weekly flights. It was revised on May 17, 2014, permitting flight frequency to 21 per week. 

Likewise, Nepal has agreed Bhutan’s proposal to grant two more traffic frequency on Paro-Kathmandu-Delhi and Delhi-Kathmandu-Paro from existing four per week under the fifth freedom rights.

Although Bhutan had asked two other routes – Bagdogra and Bodhgaya of India – to Kathmandu under the fifth freedom traffic rights, tourism ministry officials said the request has been “duly noted”. 

Under Nepal’s request, Bhutan has agreed to offer “beyond rights” facilities for Nepali carriers, or “stopover” traffic where passengers may embark or disembark at an intermediate stop as part of an itinerary between the endpoints of a connecting flights.

The beyond points rights as asked by Nepali sides are Kathmandu-Paro-Bangkok; Kathmandu-Paro-Naypyidaw, the capital city of Myanmar; Kathmandu-Paro-Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam; and Kathmandu-Paro- Phnom Penh; the capital  city of Cambodia. 

Two countries also agreed to sign a separate MoU between tourism authorities to boost tourism by simplifying immigration procedures.
To increase the air connectivity to and between Saarc countries, Nepal and Bhutan have agreed to raise the issues of simplifying air routes and connectivity at different Saarc forums.  

Currently, Bhutan’s first private airline Tashi Air (aka Bhutan Airlines) and Druk Air have been connecting Nepal. Nepali private carrier Buddha Air, which had launched commercial flights to Paro on August 23, 2010, has been making charter flights to Bhutan.

Konseptet bak Radisson Red er trendy hoteller, som passer den moderne, designbevisste gjesten, ifølge Wolfgang M.Neumann, president i Rezidor-gruppen, som står bak Radisson-hotellene.

Nå kommer altså Radisson Red til Europa, og først ute er Glasgow i Skottland. Byen er ikke tilfeldig valgt, Glasgow er nemlig et av de sterkeste markedene i Storbritannia, og Radisson Red-hotellet blir liggende tett på Skottlands største konferansesenter. og Hydro konsertarena (The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre) med 12.500 plasser. Hotellet får også et eget kunstgalleri.

Gruppen tar sikte på å lansere mer enn 60 Radisson Red-hoteller over hele verden innen 2020.

I 2015 reiste vi mest til storbyer i Europa. Øst-Europa ble stadig mer populært, men årets mest uventede nyhet var Tokyo (bildet), skriver travelnews.no

2015 var et bra reiseår, og til tross for dyrere dollar og pund fortsatte vi nordboere å reise som aldri før. Aller helst reiste vi til Spania, England og Øst-Europa, men Asia og USA er fortsatt populært. Den dyrere dollaren kompenseres med flere og billigere fly både til USA og Asia.

Som vanlig ligger storbyer som London, Amsterdam og Berlin på topp når det gjelder populære reisemål, og Spania er med stor margin det landet vi nordboere aller helst besøker. Men vi ser også en tydelig trend i at stadig flere reiser til de østlige delene av Europa, og både Istanbul og Budapest klatrer mange plasseringer på listen sammenlignet med tidligere år.

Tourist agency VisitBrussels on Friday set up three yellow outdoor telephone booths at key spots in the Belgian and EU capital to which people from around the world can call and get the scoop.

One of the phones is just metres from the family home of Paris attacks fugitive Salah Abdeslam in the district of Molenbeek, where police have carried out several raids since November.

“You have to come here to Molenbeek to really know what’s happening,” Molenbeek resident Siham El-Sihan said after marching up to the phone and answering a call from an AFP reporter.

“It’s an image that people have without knowing. They’re just opinions with no proof. I live here and we are bit like a big family,” she said, her conversation caught and broadcast simultaneously online by a nearby camera.

The campaign is to last through Monday with phones at three locations, including the Mont des Arts museum district and the trendy Place Flagey.

Brussels, and the immigrant-strong Molenbeek district in particular, gained worldwide notoriety for being the alleged staging ground for the Paris attacks on November 13 that killed 130 people.

On Friday, Belgian prosecutors said police had found the Brussels flat where bombs used in the Paris attacks could have been made and where key suspect Abdeslam may have hidden.

Brussels itself was put on lockdown a week after the massacre with schools and museums closed on fears of a further attack, a measure that the government this week said cost the Belgian economy 350 million euros.

The city’s New Year fireworks were also cancelled over a separate terror alert.

“Over the past weeks, the international media has portrayed Brussels as a war zone that tourists would do well to avoid,” VisitBrussels agency said in a statement announcing their call scheme.

“The people of Brussels are proud of their region and are no doubt eager to re-establish the truth regarding the situation in Brussels.”
