Russian online hotel reservation service Oktogo.ru named the ten most popular destinations for Russian tourists who traveled with children during the New Year holidays in 2016. The rating is based on hotel booking data from 1 to 10 January 2016, reports the Armenian ARKA News Agency,

The top 10 popular destinations for foreign trips with children were Tallinn, Riga, Prague, Vilnius, Barcelona, Rome, Helsinki, Berlin, Yerevan and Warsaw. 

According to Travel.ru, the number of Russians who preferred to travel with children for  New Year holidays increased by one third compared to last year.

The top ten most popular cities in Russia for  traveling with children for New Year’s holidays were St. Petersburg, Moscow, Sochi, Kazan, Kostroma, Novgorod, Vologda, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod and Vladimir.

The most inexpensive cities were Smolensk, Kislovodsk, Murmansk, Pereslavl and Kaliningrad.

The most popular resort destinations for spending the New Year holidays with the children were Bali (Indonesia), Dubai (UAE), Phuket (Thailand), Cebu (Philippines) and Langkawi (Malaysia).

Lovers of skiing with children chose Bulgaria, Andorra and Austria. 

The most inexpensive European capitals to visit for  winter vacations were Belgrade and Warsaw.

Tourism in Luxembourg City, capital of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, grew for the sixth consecutive year in 2015, with the number of queries made at the tourist office rising 12.33 percent to 680,897, the Luxembourger Wort newspaper reports.

Participation in guided tours rose 15.79 percent with 294,240 people taking part in a tour in the capital.

Meanwhile, visits to the ever popular Casemates, former military tunnels under the old town, rose by almost 10 percent with 127,475 exploring the atmospheric passageways.

New features introduced in 2015 which served to boost tourism include the creation of a Luxembourg Convention Bureau to assist the Luxembourg Presidency of the European Union as well as well a light show Luxembourg Light Nights on December 18 and 19.

One of the world’s most prestigious airlines could soon be landing in Wellington, with Singapore Airlines expected to launch a new jumbo service between the trans-Tasman capital cities.

After months of negotiations, the airline is expected to announce a new Airbus A330 service between Canberra and Wellington on January 20, tied to a new Canberra-Singapore service.

Superkupp innen sport og friluft du gjør nå

Fra tirsdag kveld kan du høre David Bowies «Changes» i klokkespillet i Oslo rådhus, skriver nrk.no/ostlandssendingen. Låten blir spilt hver kveld kl.19.

– Jeg sitter og arrangerer låten nå, sier klokkenist Laura Marie Rueslåtten Olseng til NRK mandag kveld.

Olseng sier videre at det var en felles beslutning på Rådhuset om å spille en av Bowies sanger, etter at de i løpet av dagen hadde fått mange henvendelser fra folk som ønsket dette, blant dem tidligere ordfører Fabian Stang (H). 

Det er Ed Sheeran-låten “Thinking out Loud” som nå byttes ut med “Changes” på rådhusklokkenes spilleliste.

Da en annen britisk rockelegende, Ian “Lemmy” Kilminster (bildet) i bandet Mötorhead døde i Los Angeles 28.desember, fire dager etter sin 70-års dag, og bare to dager etter at han fikk en kreftdiagnose, ble også dette markert av klokkenisten i Oslo rådhus, med å spille Mötorhead-låten “Electricity”. Den skal spilles hver dag kl.18 fram til 1.juni.

Store folkemengder har mandag strømmet til David Bowies barndomshjem i 40 Stansfield Road i bydelen Brixton sør i London, for å vise sin respekt etter at det i morgentimene i dag ble kjent at den britiske rockelegenden døde i går søndag, 69 år gammel.

Han døde i New York, etter å ha tapt en 18 måneder lang kamp mot kreft, bekreftet hans sønn, filmskaperen Duncan Jones (45) på sosiale medier.

“Very sorry and sad to say it’s true. I’ll be offline for a while. Love to all.” skriver Duncan Jones på Twitter.

David Bowie, født David Robert Jones, gikk bort to dager etter sin 69-årsdag. På fødselsdagen hans ble hans 25. album, Blackstar, sluppet, et album som umiddelbart ble kritikerrost av musikkanmeldere og publikum verden over.

Den legendariske sangeren, musikeren, stilskaperen, skuespilleren, plateprodusenten, låtskriveren og billedkunstneren ble født og vokste opp i Brixton, der innbyggerne i dag har hyllet bydelens og Londons store sønn.

Også Storbritannias statsminister David Cameron, Labour-lederen Jeremy Corbyn og andre fra det politiske miljøet i landet hyller David Bowie i dag.

“I grew up listening to and watching the pop genius David Bowie. He was a master of re-invention, who kept getting it right. A huge loss.”, skriver statsministeren på Twitter.

David Cameron (49) sier til britiske medier at David Bowie “var selve lydsporet for svært mange i min generasjon.”

David Bowies bortgang har preget alle britiske medier i dag, med ulike vinklinger. En person som har fått stor oppmerksomhet, uønsket sådan, er radioverten Fiona Winchester i den landsdekkende radiostasjonskjeden Heart FMs stasjon i Skottland, som ved en glipp annonserte at det var statsminister David Cameron som var død.

Hun var imidlertid rask med å korrigere seg selv:

“David Cameron has died. David Bowie, I mean David Bowie.”
