Alle passasjerer som reiser over de to flyplassene i Dubai, ett av de sju emiratene i De forente arabiske emirater, må nå betale en avgift tilsvarende 90 kroner, Avgiften er for bruk av flyplassenes fasiliteter, skriver travelnews.no
Passasjerer som forlater Dubai, også i transitt, skal alle betale avgiften. Unntaket er barn under to år, kabinpersonale samt passasjerer som har samme ankomst- og avgangsflight.
Det er flyselskapene som skal kreve inn avgiften, og dette vil skje i forbindelse med utstedelsen av billettene, om det er i eller utenfor Dubai.
Avgiften begynte å løpe allerede 1. mars, for flyavganger fra Dubai etter 30. juni.
Målet med den nye avgiften er å utbedre infrastrukturen ved flyplassene i Dubai og øke kapasiteten, som innen 2023 trolig vil nå 100 millioner passasjerer, ifølge Travelnews.
Det skal videre øremerkes midler til utbedring av terminalbygget Councourse D ved Dubai International Airport, som også inkluderer utvidelse av Terminal 2 og oppgradering av Terminal 1.
Flyplassene i Dubai er Dubai International Airport og Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport.

Stillehavsnasjonen Palau, som har 21,000 innbyggere, frykter total uttørking i kjølvannet av værfenomenet El Niño, skriver NRK.no
– Hvis forholdene ikke endrer seg er det sannsynlig at det blir total vannmangel i løpet av de neste to til tre ukene, heter det i en rapport fra landets nasjonale kriseråd, melder nyhetsbyrået AFP.
Palau er en av flere øystater som har erklært unntakstilstand etter at El Niño førte til ekstrem tørke. Sist det regnet så lite som det har gjort på Palau over de siste fire månedene var for 65 år siden, skriver NRK.
Rasjonering av vann er satt i gang, og vann fra springen er bare tilgjengelig tre timer daglig i Koror, landets største by og tidligere hovedstad. Skoler har bare åpent halve dagen på grunn av mangel på drikkevann.
Nå har Palau bedt to av sine nærmeste allierte og handelspartnere Japan og Taiwan om krisehjelp. De vil blant annet ha direktleveranser med vann. Japans ambassade i Palau sier de jobber med å finne ut av hvordan de kan hjelpe til.
– Vi har unntakstilstand. Det haster å løse denne krisen, sier en talsperson Palaus regjering til AFP.
El Niño oppstår når av deler av Stillehavet blir unormalt varmt, og kan føre til ekstremvær. El Niño som startet i oktober i fjor blir omtalt som en av de sterkeste i historien. Værmønsteret den førte med seg kommer trolig ikke til å avta før etter sommeren, ifølge det amerikanske forskningsbyrået National Oceanic and Atmostpheric Administration (NOAA), skriver nrk.no
Hovedstaden Ngerulmud, i delstaten Melekeok og ligger på landets største øy Babeldaob, er med sine 400 innbyggere en av verdens minste hovedsteder. Byen ble hovedstad i 2006, og ligger 20 kilometer nordøst for den tidligere hovedstaden Koror, som har vel 11000 innbyggere.

Palau ligger nord for Australia og Papua Ny-Guinea, og vest for Filippinene. Landet består av 250 øyer, og er inndelt i 16 delstater, den minste av delstatene, Sonsorol, har bare 40 innbyggere.

Søndag åpnet den nye T-banetunnelen i Oslo mellom Økern og Sinsen, og Løren stasjon blir den 101. stasjonen i T-banenettet i hovedstaden.
Banen binder øst og vest i Oslo sammen på en ny måte og åpner samtidig for en etterlengtet frekvensøkning på Linje 3, skriver Ruter på sine nettsider.
Med åpningen av den nye banen får Norges hovedstad det største T-banenettet i Norden, og med flest stasjoner.
– Dette er en historisk dag og vi ønsker alle nye og gamle kunder velkommen til en ny T-banehverdag, sier konsernsjef i Sporveien, Cato Hellesjø og administrerende direktør i Ruter, Bernt Reitan Jenssen.
Etter nesten tre års byggetid ble den nye tunnelen og stasjonen høytidelig åpnet av Oslos ordfører Marianne Borgen (SV), byrådsleder Raymond Johansen (Ap) og byråd for miljø og samferdsel Lan Marie Nguyen Berg (MDG).
Den 1,6 kilometer lange tunnelen er sprengt ut under Oslo og gir en direkteforbindelse fra Grorudbanen vestover mot Sinsen, Storo og Nydalen. Stasjonen, som ligger 26 meter under bakkenivå, tilsvarer et bygg på ti etasjer og er den første nye stasjonen i Oslo på ti år.
Den særegne stasjonen er utsmykket med markante kunstverk som skaper en helt spesiell ramme for de 8000 kollektivreisende som er ventet å bruke stasjonen daglig.

Byrådet i Oslo får ikke kalle seg byregjering, det har Kommunaldepartementet avgjort, skriver VG.
Samarbeidspartiene i byrådet – Arbeiderpartiet, Miljøpartiet De Grønne og Sosialistisk Venstreparti kunngjorde etter valget i fjor at de ville forandre navnet fra byråd til byregjering.
Byrådsleder Raymond Johansen (Ap) gjorde det i dag klart at byrådspartiene trekker forslaget om navneendring. Forslaget er tidligere vedtatt i bystyret, med støtte fra Rødt og Fremskrittspartiet.

The first phase of construction of Egypt’s new capital city kicked off on Saturday, announced Minister of Housing Moustafa Madbouly, the egyptianstreets.com website reports.
“Four construction companies have been mandated to implement the infrastructure of the new capital,” said Mr Madbouly according to MENA news agency.
Up to 1.5 million new job opportunities will arise as a result of the construction of the first phase of the new capital city.
Construction of the new city is being carried out by an Egyptian-Chinese alliance which includes Arab Contractors, the Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company, and the China State Construction Engineering Corporation.
However, the Housing Minister said that Egypt will be accepting bids for private companies to take part in the first phase of construction. The Minister also said that Chinese companies will be providing Egyptian contractors with loans to finance the construction of a number of buildings in the new capital city, including 14 new government buildings and a major conference center.
China’s involvement came after Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Cairo to boost bilateral economic and political ties. During his visit, president Xi expressed China’s willingness to support Egypt’s efforts to construct a new capital city.
Plans to build Egypt’s new capital city were temporarily halted in 2015 after disagreements over the cost of the project and how long it would take.
The United Arab Emirates company that had been announced as the developer of the project, Capital City Partners, apparently pulled out of the project despite leading its marketing and launch at the Egyptian Economic Development Conference.
However, according to Egypt’s government, Egypt cancelled the Memorandum of Understanding with the company after a “lack of progress”.
Nevertheless, Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi was keen to see the project completed and ordered the government sign a new agreement with China State Construction Engineering Corporation. Following the signing of the agreement, President ell-Sisi announced that the first phase of the project would be completed within just two years.
The new capital city promises housing to five million people and will also include a new central business district with hotels, shopping centers, theme parks and more.
However, the $US 45 billion project, which is set to be completed within 12 years, is primarily aimed at transferring ministries, government buildings and foreign embassies from down-town Cairo to the new capital and would be established on the Suez-Cairo-Ain Sokhna road.

Det nederlandske flyselskapet KLM er klar med flygninger med biodrivstoff fra Oslo til Amsterdam. Flygningene vil bli gjennomført med KLMs nye Embraer 190 med en blanding av 47 prosent jet biofuel og 53 prosent fossil jetfuel, skriver travelnews.no
Disse flygningene markerer enda et steg i riktig retning mot innfasing av biodrivstoff i luftfarten. Flyene går fra Oslo Lufthavn, som i januar i år ble den den første internasjonale flyplassen i verden med faste leveranser av biodrivstoff i hydrantsystemet sitt.

“Sofia’s development as a green city has been outlined as major vision for us,” Mayor of the Bulgarian capital city Sofia Yordanka Fandakova said speaking at the Green Investments – Business Perspectives before the Socially Responsible Companies conference held in Sofia, the Bulgarian FOCUS News Agency reported.

“A green city means better quality of the air, lower noise, preservation of the nature and environment, saving energy, and the business can directly join these initiatives. We should also mention the waste recycling and utilisation”, the mayor remarked.
“We are developing a green city by modernising the urban transport, expanding the subway, renovating the streets, easing the traffic, installing energy efficient lights, renovating the buildings. We also take care of the parks, expand the green spaces in the city, and of course we provide modern waste management,” the mayor commented further.
“This is responsible behaviour that requires tackling the problems that have been amassed over the years, such as the quality of the air. And we should cope with it faster because we want our children to enjoy cleaner environment,” Mayor Yordanka Fandakova added.

Til sammen 34 personer ble drept og 130 skadet i selvmordsangrepene på Zaventem-flyplassen og på metrostasjonen Maelbeek. 20 mennsker mistet livet på flyplassen, 14 på metroen.
