Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó officially opened the Hungarian Embassy in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, on Tuesday, according to the Hungarian news agency MTI, the Budapest Business Journal reported.
“Hungarian enterprises have excellent export opportunities in the Uzbekistani economy, which is producing an enviable level of economic growth even in Asian comparison, namely within the fields of the food industry and animal husbandry technologies, the pharmaceutical industry and water management technologies,” said Szijjártó in a statement to MTI following negotiations in Tashkent, as quoted by official government website kormany.hu.
Mr Szijjártó said that Hungary becomes the 11th European Union member state with an embassy in the Uzbek capital. The other three Visegrád Group (V4) countries – the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia – already have embassies in the city, he added.
He met with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and several ministers in the government during his visit. After the meetings, he noted opportunities for Hungarian companies to export cattle, as well as cattle and poultry farming technology, to Uzbekistan. Hungarian water management companies could also contribute to Uzbekistanʼs economic stability, he added.
The foreign minister said the Uzbek government welcomes the further expansion of Hungarian drugmaker Richter in the country. Richter has several hundred medicines registered in Uzbekistan and is undertaking drug trials at more than 30 local clinics, he added.
Mr Szijjártó also told reporters that Hungary has offered 30 scholarship places for Uzbek students to attend Hungarian universities. The related agreement is currently being drawn up and will be signed in New York on the sidelines of the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly.
As reported earlier, the main purpose of Peter Szijjártóʼs ongoing tour of Central Asia is to suitably prepare Hungary for its upcoming presidency of the V4 Group, which begins on July 1, in view of the fact that the most important task of the Hungarian presidency will be to enable the V4 to significantly develop relations between Central Europe and Central Asia, according to kormany.hu.

Costa Rica will open an embassy in Azerbaijan. This was announced by Costa Rica’s Foreign Minister Manuel Gonzalez Sans while on an official visit to Baku on 23 June, the Azerbaijana Foreign Ministry reported, according to the azernews.az website.
Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov welcomed the decision of the Government of Costa Rica.
Mammadyarov said his visit to Costa Rica in early June this year and political consultations held there would contribute to the development of cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
The ministers also emphasized the wide range of opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic-trade, tourism, energy, logistics, ports and maritime, investment and humanitarian spheres and noted the importance of promotion of direct contacts among business communities.
Over 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Costa Rica and Azerbaijan, the two countries have systematically developed relations and a political dialogue, which facilitated the intensification of mutual visits, playing a huge role in strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between Costa Rica and Azerbaijan.

Khadija Saye, med foreldre fra Gambia, var født og oppvokst i London, og bodde og jobbet i 20.etasje i den 24 etasjer høye The Grenfell Towers in Kensington, som ble rammet av brannen 14.juni, der mellom 75 og 80 mennesker mistet livet. Også Sayes mor mistet livet i brannen.
Khadija Saye, som ble 24 år gammel, var i ferd med å slå igjennom og bli et kjent navn som fotograf.

Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, inaugurated on Sunday the new UAE Embassy in Oslo, in the presence of Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende, Gulf News reported.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and his Norwegian counterpart unveiled the commemorative plaque on the inauguration of the new embassy building.
The UAE Foreign Minister said that the opening of the new embassy in Oslo reflects the keenness of the UAE government to strengthen bilateral relations with Norway, and further develop them to serve the interests of the peoples of both countries.
Sheikh Abdullah and Børge Brende signed a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the two countries, aimed at enhancing political dialogue and deepening multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.
The event was also attended by Mohamed Ibrahim Aljuwaied, Ambassador of the UAE to Norway, and a number of ambassadors of Arab and other countries accredited to Norway.
The United Arab Emirates established the embassy in Oslo in 2015.

Etter at den amerikanske studenten Otto Warmbier (22) døde mandag, uttalte selskapet på sin Facebook-side at risikoen for utenlandske turister nå er for høy, ifølge nyhetsbyrået AP.
Warmbier lå i koma da han ble løslatt fra fengsel i Nord-Korea, etter å ha blitt dømt til 15 års straffearbeid for å ha stjålet et propagandaplakat fra et hotellrom. Han besøkte Nord-Korea som student i 2016.
Han var fra Cincinatti i Ohio.
Den kinesiske turoperatøren ligger i byen Xian, og har spesialisert seg på lavpristurer til Nord-Korea. Selskapet ble startet i 2008 av briten Gareth Johnson.
