The Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta will design the new opera building in Shanghai in China – The Shanghai Grand Opera, the Aftenposten newspaper in Oslo reported.

The experiences from the opera building in Oslo, where the public has access to the roof, will be emphasized.

The new 100,000 square meters opera in Shanghai, by the Huangpu River, will be completed in 2023.

Snøhetta is an international architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and brand design office based in Oslo, and with offices in New York, San Francisco, Innsbruck, Singapore, and Stockholm.
