Mexico opens consulate general in Kigali, Rwanda

Mexico has opened a consulate general in Kigali, capital city of Rwanda, APA reported according to the .journalducameroun.com website.

”This consulate will facilitate economic, commercial, social and cultural exchanges between the two countries,” said Aimable Rumongi, a Rwandan national who has been appointed as the honorary Consul General to Rwanda.

Mexico and Rwanda established diplomatic ties in 1976 and Rwanda maintains presence in Mexico through its ambassador to the United States of America.

Mexico named an ambassador to Rwanda for the first time in 2007 with residence in Nairobi, Kenya.

The honorary consul to Rwanda will foster travel and business, facilitate conversations and connections that will ultimately deepen the friendship and relationship between the people of Mexico and the people of Rwanda.

Hailing the establishment of diplomatic ties between Rwanda and Mexico, Aimable Rumongi said there has been new progress every day since then.

“The move will build a bridge of friendship opening a new window of mutual understanding between the two peoples,” he said.
