Hilton Worldwide yesterday announced the signing of a management agreement with Universal Management Group to open the mid-market Hilton Garden Inn Doha C Ring Road. Set to open in 2018, the hotel is located in Qatar’s capital, Doha and once open will join Hilton Garden Inn hotels already operating in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, the zawya.com website reported.

Hilton Garden Inn Doha C Ring Road will feature 138 guest rooms offering signature bedding, a health club and outdoor swimming pool. Dining options include an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby cafe, a bar and 24-hour Pavilion Pantry. Guests will also have access to a business centre, complimentary Wi-Fi and meeting space. The hotel will be located on the city’s prominent C Ring Road, placing it in a prime location with easy access to business and commercial centres, as well as Hamad International Airport.

With the Qatar tourism industry expected to reach $7.2 billion by 2025, based on forecasts of four million visitors by 2020, Doha has built an attractive business and leisure tourism offering, supported by Qatar Airways’ global connectivity to 170 destinations worldwide.
Doha has recently seen a huge investment in its transportation network, with the opening of a new international airport and the development of a new metro rail system.

Hilton Worldwide currently has two hotels operating in Qatar, with a further seven hotels under development, including AlRayyan Hotel Doha, a part of the Curio collection, which is due to open in late 2016.

Qatar Airways, som har en daglig rute mellom hovedstaden Doha og Oslo, lanserer nå det som blir verdens lengste flyrute – mellom Doha og Auckland, den største byen på New Zealand, skriver VG.

Med en Boeing 777-LR vil turen ta 18 timer og 34 minutter, ifølge flyselskapets sjef, Akbar Al-Baker.

Nyheten om ruten ble sluppet på Bahrain Air Show nylig, og ruten skal ifølge Bloomberg startes opp i løpet av våren 2016.

Doha-Auckland-ruten blir 800 kilometer lenger enn det som er verdens lengste rute i dag; det australske selskapet Qantas sin rute mellom Sydney og Dallas, Texas – fløyet av verdens største passasjerfly, Airbus A380.

Men, så ser det ut til at det blir kamp om rute-rekorden. Også Singapore Airlines kaster seg nå inn i racet ved å starte opp igjen flyginger mellom Singapore og New York, som en gang i tiden var verdens lengste flyrute. Nå setter selskapet inn en flunkende ny Airbus A350-maskin på denne ruten, konfigurert med bare business class-seter om bord.

Under the patronage of Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Bahraini Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism will host an event entitled “The Inauguration of Manama, the Capital of Gulf Tourism 2016” today, reports the Bahrain News Agency.

The event will showcase the history and culture of Bahrain through the Kingdom’s most important features and tourist destinations. A list of events and programmes suited to families and individuals will be announced during the launch of the event.
 
The announcement of the events will initiate the Manama Capital of Gulf Tourism 2016 calendar, which will play a vital role in contributing to the enhancement and development of the tourism sector in Bahrain.

The city of Manama was picked as the “2016 Capital of Gulf Tourism” by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministers of Tourism, due to the Kingdom’s cultural history and wide-ranging tourist attractions

Managed by the China Middle East Investment and Trade Promotion Centre, the 115,000 square metre Bahrain Dragon City is located in Diyar Al Muharraq. The mall hosts more than 500 Chinese companies showcasing a wide range of products and services.

The Bahrain Dragon City site includes a 50,000 square meter market, a warehouse facility, a leisure complex and restaurants.

China’s East Star Group also announced that it has invested a further $10m to build an 18,000 square meter storage facility at the site.

The new mall is hoped to boost the profile of Chinese companies in the region and strengthen family tourism into Bahrain, especially from across the other Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Chief executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board Khalid Al Rumaihi said: “The EDB has made attracting Chinese businesses to the kingdom a top priority. As a regional tourism hub attracting millions of visitors each year, Bahrain, being a gateway to the GCC market, allows GCC visitors ease of entry into the kingdom whether through the King Fahd Causeway or Bahrain International Airport, which provides a large network of flights to and from the GCC Capitals.”

The Dragon City complex also includes six multi-storey residential buildings offering 300 apartments. Work on the Dragon Apartments is complete with the first set of residents due to move in soon, the developers announced last week.

The chairman of Chinamex Hao Feng added: “Bahrain was chosen as the location for our latest Dragon City project due to the kingdom’s liberal business environment, including 100 per cent foreign ownership, low costs and competitive taxes.

“Bahrain’s location at the heart of the Gulf and its position as a regional centre for business, trade and tourism also give our tenants an unrivalled opportunity to sell their products across the region, particularly in Saudi Arabia, the biggest economy in the GCC, which is just a short drive across the King Fahd Causeway.”

According to it, the Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev took part in the opening ceremony of the embassy today as a part of his official visit to Kuwait. The president visited the building of the diplomatic mission of the country and greeted its staff.

The opening ceremony was attended by the First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev.

Later on, Almazbek Atambayev will go on a working visit to Qatar.

Minister of Information, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Chairman of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al- Humoud Al-Sabah has affirmed that the national relevant authorities are preparing for distinguished celebrations for the occasion, Kuwait Capital of Islamic Culture  in 2016, arabtimesonline.com / Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

Emerging from a meeting of the steering committee, held on Friday, Sheikh Salman said the concerned authorities would seek to transmit several messages to the world; Kuwait’s particular interest in culture and its advocacy of Islam as a religion of tolerance. He expressed deep gratitude to His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al- Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for patronizing the cultural event.

The Premier is also president of the organizing commission. Awork plan prepared by the cultural council was examined at the meeting, he said, indicating that it deals with organization of seminars and various other activities during the event schedule. “The discussions dealt with the outlook to promote the humanitarian and philanthropic activities, Kuwait is renowned of, as well as involving the youth in the event activities in addition to marketing the Kuwaiti tourism culture,” he said.

The discussions during the meeting also touched on the planned inauguration of the two cultural centers, Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center and Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center, in 2016, “that is in addition to selecting some landmarks to be enlisted in the record of the global heritage sites such as Failaka island, Kuwait Towers and Abdullah Al-Jaber Cultural Center,” the minister added.

He affirmed that the participants in the meeting agreed on the necessity of marketing the event locally and abroad, with a sound and well-pondered media strategy.
