10 rimelige europeiske storbyer du kan reise til nå

Night photography captured Canberra’s attention in 2015, with nine out of 10 of the most “liked” images from the ACT government’s tourism Instagram account shot between sunset and sunrise, reports The Canberra Times.

The @VisitCanberra account collects and promotes images by Instagrammers around the city, “encouraging people to holiday in the national capital and, in turn, build a community of social media savvy advocates for the city”.

Sunsets, sunrises, storms and Lake Burley Griffin all proved popular subjects in 2015. Black Mountain and the Telstra Tower were the real stars however, featuring in four of the account’s top 10 most liked photographs.

Nearly 60,000 images were tagged with #visitcanberra on Instagram in 2015.

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has launched flights from Abu Dhabi, the federal capital of UAE, to its second Moroccan destination with scheduled services to Rabat, reports albawada.com

The inaugural flight touched down at Rabat-Sale International Airport to a traditional water cannon salute today Sunday afternoon followed by an arrival ceremony with chief guests, Morocco’s Minister of Tourism Lahcen Haddad, and the UAE Ambassador to Morocco, Mr Al Asri Saeed Al Dhaheri.

The twice-weekly service, operated by three-class Airbus A340-500 aircraft, is the only direct commercial air link between the two capital cities. With existing daily services on the Abu Dhabi – Casablanca route, Etihad Airways has boosted its Morocco frequency to nine flights each week.

Målet med arbeidene er å gjenspeile arven av dansk design og samtidig vise fram noen av designerlegenden, og arkitekten, Arne Jacobsens (1902-71) mer ukjente klassikere.

Det ikoniske hotellet skal bli like ettertraktet som da det ble designet for 56 år siden.

– Vi vil bygge videre på visjonen til Jacobsen, og jobber tett sammen med lokale designere og arkitekter, sier Tom Flanagan i Rezidor Hotel Group.

Arne Jacobsen designet noen av verdens mest populære stol-klassikere, som “Egget”, og “Svanen”, eksklusivt for Royal Hotel.

Designerens egen suite, rom 606 (bildet), er ett av verdens mest kjente og fotograferte hotellrom, og vil forbli urørt under oppussingen.

Rommet står for øvrig nøyaktig slik det ble designet av Arne Jacobsen i 1960, og er svært populært å overnatte i, skriver VG.

Israel har besluttet å legge ned ambassaden i Hviterusslands hovedstad Minsk, som et ledd i en større prosess med stenging av enkelte diplomatiske stasjoner og åpning av nye.

Israel stengte ambassaden i Minsk også i 2003, men gjenåpnet den senere.

Hviterusslands utenriksdepartement reagerer svært negativt på Israels beslutning, skriver det hviterussiske nyhetsbyrået BELTA på sine nettsider, og landet svarer nå med å stenge sin ambassade i Tel-Aviv.

En talsmann for hviterussisk UD, Dmitry Mironchik mener Israels beslutning er et feilgrep, og BELTA siterer ham på blant annet dette:

“The representative of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is confident that the Israeli side commits a mistake by ignoring the fact that the two countries connect the lives and fates of tens of thousands of people for whom Israel and Belarus are native countries as well as the general vibrant bilateral relations in various areas.”

Tipsene som får bunaden klar til 17. mai

8.januar hadde Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz i Oslo holdt førsteplassen blant de mest foretrukne Oslo-hotellene på Tripadvisor sammenhengende i et helt år, skriver VG.

Og, det populære hotellet på “Tinghus-plassen” i hovedstaden er nå på andre plass på Norges-lista.

-At våre gjester har gitt så gode karakterer til Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz, må jeg berømme mine ansatte for. Vi har en tydelig strategi og målsettinger i hvert eneste ledd i driften. Vår nøkkelfaktor er omtanke – det er gjerne det som speiler gjestenes vurderinger, sier en stolt hotelldirektør Lars Petter Mathisen til bransjebladet HRR.

For hotellmarkedet er det i dag en stor grad gjestene selv som driver nye gjester inn til hotellet, og svært mange sjekker hotellene på Tripadvisor før de bestiller rom.

Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz har nærmest hatt fullt belegg siden åpning, og har fått gode anmeldelser internasjonalt.

I butikk: Vårskoene du går for

Det er litt av en jobb de ansatte i London Zoo har når alle dyrene skal telles og registreres, noe som skal gjøres en gang i året, skriver Se og Hør.

I London Zoo er det over 16 000 dyr, og for at dyrehagen skal få beholde lisensen, må alt kartlegges og registreres. Hvert eneste pattedyr, fisk, fugl, reptil, amfibie og insekt skal telles.

For øvrig er årets telling og registrering nå unnagjort.
