November-statistikken til Flightstats viser at Oslo Lufthavn er den punktligste flyplassen i Europa i kategorien «store lufthavner», skriver travelnews.no

Dette kommer i samme måned som trafikktallene viser en vekst på 4,2 prosent sammenliknet med november i fjor.

Både innland og utland vokser med henholdsvis 3,4 og 5 prosent. Totalt reiste 1 932 206 antall passasjerer til og fra Oslo Lufthavn i november i år sammenliknet med 1 854 907 i fjor. De fem største destinasjonene er Trondheim, Bergen, Stavanger, København og Stockholm.

På verdensbasis ble Oslo Lufthavn nummer syv. Den mest punktlige lufthavnen i verden ble Doha (DOH) med en punktlighet på 94,42 prosent. På plassene bak følger Tokyo (HND) med 92,96 og Istanbul (IST) med 91,03 prosent.

Desember måned er alltid travel på Oslo Lufthavn og 2015 er ikke noe unntak. Den kommende uken er den uken i desember med høyest trafikk, og fredag 18. desember er den dagen i julen med høyest antall forventede passasjerer.

Av øvrige norske lufthavner utmerket Bergen Lufthavn Flesland seg på fjerdeplass i kategorien «regionale lufthavner», sammen med Stavanger Lufthavn Sola som kom på sjetteplass.

Bransjeorganisasjonen Flightstats fører statistikk over punktligheten for flyselskap og lufthavner over hele verden.

Now that the Obama administration is working to reestablish diplomatic relations with the largest island nation in the Caribbean, there’s a lot of optimism that Cuba’s capital city, Havana, and its population of over two million could see prosperity over the relatively short term, inverse.com reports. 

But Cuba watchers and an increasing number of people on the ground are learning that you can’t build a future without stabilizing the past.

One of the city’s biggest draws is its architecture, which has a distinct European feel. “Some people have called it “the Paris of the Caribbean”, says John Pilling, an architect based in Boston who has visited the country a few times. “It’s a handsome city, even in its state of disrepair.”

Disrepair is the right word. The city, designated World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is currently in very poor shape with crumbling infrastructure, terrible roads, and crumbling facades. Cuba needs money, and it needs it fast.

Athens ranks among the most popular Christmas holiday destinations in Europe, with inexpensive accommodation to boot, according to data released by international hotel price comparison website Trivago, ekathimerini.com reported.

Athens was 24th out of the 50 most popular European destinations as shown by searches made around the world for the Christmas period. It also ranked joint fourth with Budapest among the most attractive cities in financial terms for hotel accommodation, as the average online rate per night for the period in the Greek capital comes to 74 euros for a double room. Athens was beaten by Valencia (66 euros/night), Krakow (68 euros) and Malaga (73 euros).

The average stay in Athens appears to be six days, with the capital being the only Greek city in the top 50, while Spain has 13 entries.

Meanwhile Athens International Airport and Marketing Greece has presented their new campaign to promote Athens as a city break destination, titled “Speak Athenian, Be an Athenian.”

Iosif Parsalis, general manager of Marketing Greece, stated that the new integrated digital campaign, which uses a mix of Greek and English terms with Greek and Latin characters, is aimed at the 24-40 age group. He added that greater emphasis has been placed on attracting visitors from specific countries, among them Germany, France, Great Britain and the US.

AIA’s communication and marketing director, Ioanna Papadopoulou, noted that part of the campaign will involve a series of themed events both at the airport and in the city itself in cooperation with tourism entities and other bodies.
