Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh on Friday met his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides in the Cypriot capital Nicosia and discussed bilateral ties and ways to build on them, the Jordanian news agency Petra reported,
During his visit, Mr Judeh inaugurated the Jordanian embassy in Nicosia. During the inauguration ceremony, Judeh said that this event is a milestone in the efforts to boost ties between Jordan and Cyprus.
The two foreign ministers underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation in tourism, economic and cultural domains. Further, the two ministers discussed the latest regional developments and challenges facing the region as well as means to address these challenges.
In this regard, Mr Judeh underscored the need to relaunch serious and effective peace talks. Any talks, he affirmed, must be governed by a timeframe and lead to the establishment of a viable and independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The two ministers also discussed international efforts to fight terrorism and terrorist organizations.
