BULGARIA’S CAPITAL PRESERVED POSITIVE TREND IN TOURISM WITH 10% GROWTH IN 2015

“Over the past year the capital city Sofia preserved the positive trend in the field of tourism with an average annual growth of 10%,” said Dr Todor Chobanov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia, speaking at a seminar themed Sofia Municipality 2016 Draft Budget held in the mountain resort town of Bansko, reports FOCUS News Agency.

The Deputy Mayor commented further that the figures presented were valid by the end of November and were not final.

“There is an upturn trend and it will be preserved over the next years or even improved,” Mr Chobanov remarked.

“Sofia Municipality will continue working for developing further out tourist and information centres and opening new sites,” he added.

According to official data by the end of October 2015, compared with the same period in 2014, there is a 10.2% growth in the number of tourists registered in the city.

“There is 9% increase of the foreign and 11% increase of the Bulgarian tourists,” Deputy Mayor Todor Chobanov commented further.
