Egypt is planning to establish three new cities relying on renewable energy, said President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi Saturday during his meeting with the French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, the cairopost.com reported.
The new cities include the new administrative capital, the new Alameen city, and Al Galala city; Egypt’s Minister of Housing and Urban Utilities announced Friday that construction of Western North Coast’s Alameen city will start in coming few weeks.
The cost of tourist and industrial Alameen city is estimated at 2 billion EGP ($ 255.4 million), and aims to ease the population density along the Nile banks, Vetogate reported Aug. 21
The new administrative capital city “Cairo Capital” is halfway between Cairo and the Suez Canal area. It is one of a series of mega-projects announced by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to attract foreign investment and create jobs in a country with a population of 90 million.
On Sept. 20, Egypt’s Minister of Investment Ashraf Salman signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese Chains State Company to participate in the development of the New Administrative Capital.
The Galalah is planned as an eco-friendly tourist city located on the Red Sea; the city’s name translates to “Majesty” and is so named in dedication to the Majesty of Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Valls delivered President Sisi an invitation from French President François Hollande to attend the opening session of the 2015 Paris Climate Conference (Cop21) due to be held in December.
Both sides tackled the bilateral relations, besides the international and regional issues of mutual concerns, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.
Valls and his high-level delegation’s visit to Cairo came in light of enhancing the military relations; Egypt and France officially signed Saturday a military deal of purchasing two Mistral-class warships from France.
