With an eye on the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Tokyo metropolitan government will start promoting boat tours to attract foreign visitors in the new fiscal year, which begins on April 1, reports The Japan News / The Yomiuri Shimbun website.

The metropolitan government will launch a portal website with information about boat transportation services in several languages and also develop a new route between Haneda Airport and the waterfront areas where several Olympic venues will be built. A boat terminal will be built in the space now occupied by the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market in Tsukiji, Chuo Ward, after the market is relocated.

The metropolitan government is aiming to attract an increasing number of foreign tourists by conveying the capital?s new charms.

Det franske nyhetsbyrået AFP (Agence France-Presse) har kunngjort at de vil åpne et byrå i Nord-Koreas hovedstad Pyongyang, og blir med det det andre internasjonale nyhetsbyrået med permanent tilstedeværelse i byen, skriver VG Nett.

En avtale om å åpne kontor ble tirsdag inngått i Paris mellom AFP og det nord-koreanske nyhetsbyrået Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Det andre store internasjonale byrået med kontor i Pyongyang er amerikanske AP (Associated Press). I tillegg har det japanske byrået Kyodo og kinesiske Xinhua kontor i den nord-koreanske hovedstaden.

AFPs kontor skal bemannes med to nord-koreanske journalister. AFP ble startet i 1835, og har 200 kontorer i 150 land.

Vest-Sahara, også kalt Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), ble i 1976 erklært selvstendig av frigjøringsbevegelsen Polisario, men er ikke anerkjent av FN. 

SADR og Polisarios eksilregjering har kontroll over enkelte områder øst i landet, og har base i Algerie. SADR er opp gjennom årene blitt anerkjent av 84 FN-land, men 37 av dem har helt eller delvis trukket anerkjennelsen tilbake.

Vest-Sahara har rundt 20 ambassader rundt om i verden, og er medlem av Den afrikanske union, AU. Territoriet tilhørte Spania frem til 1975, da Marokko og Mauritania rykket inn og tok kontroll. Annekteringen er ikke internasjonal anerkjent. 

El Aaiun, som betyr “Kilden”, ligger helt nord i landet og har rundt 200,000 innbyggere.

Night photography captured Canberra’s attention in 2015, with nine out of 10 of the most “liked” images from the ACT government’s tourism Instagram account shot between sunset and sunrise, reports The Canberra Times.

The @VisitCanberra account collects and promotes images by Instagrammers around the city, “encouraging people to holiday in the national capital and, in turn, build a community of social media savvy advocates for the city”.

Sunsets, sunrises, storms and Lake Burley Griffin all proved popular subjects in 2015. Black Mountain and the Telstra Tower were the real stars however, featuring in four of the account’s top 10 most liked photographs.

Nearly 60,000 images were tagged with #visitcanberra on Instagram in 2015.

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has launched flights from Abu Dhabi, the federal capital of UAE, to its second Moroccan destination with scheduled services to Rabat, reports albawada.com

The inaugural flight touched down at Rabat-Sale International Airport to a traditional water cannon salute today Sunday afternoon followed by an arrival ceremony with chief guests, Morocco’s Minister of Tourism Lahcen Haddad, and the UAE Ambassador to Morocco, Mr Al Asri Saeed Al Dhaheri.

The twice-weekly service, operated by three-class Airbus A340-500 aircraft, is the only direct commercial air link between the two capital cities. With existing daily services on the Abu Dhabi – Casablanca route, Etihad Airways has boosted its Morocco frequency to nine flights each week.

Hotell-Københavns designikon, Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, som ligger vis-a-vis Hovedbanegården og Tivoli, skal renoveres og moderniseres, skriver VG.

Målet med arbeidene er å gjenspeile arven av dansk design og samtidig vise fram noen av designerlegenden, og arkitekten, Arne Jacobsens (1902-71) mer ukjente klassikere.

Det ikoniske hotellet skal bli like ettertraktet som da det ble designet for 56 år siden.

– Vi vil bygge videre på visjonen til Jacobsen, og jobber tett sammen med lokale designere og arkitekter, sier Tom Flanagan i Rezidor Hotel Group.

Arne Jacobsen designet noen av verdens mest populære stol-klassikere, som “Egget”, og “Svanen”, eksklusivt for Royal Hotel.

Designerens egen suite, rom 606 (bildet), er ett av verdens mest kjente og fotograferte hotellrom, og vil forbli urørt under oppussingen.

Rommet står for øvrig nøyaktig slik det ble designet av Arne Jacobsen i 1960, og er svært populært å overnatte i, skriver VG.
