London is visited by 17.4m foreigners alone every year. The pop-up phenomenon has been going a while too, reports the Londonist.com website.

Male, capital of Maldives.
Japan has opened it’s first ever embassy in the Maldives, reports haveeru.com
The embassy in the capital Male, was jointly opened Monday. Japan established diplomatic ties with the Maldives in 1967, and the Maldives established an embassy in Tokyo in 2007.
All of the dealings between both countries had since 1967 been made through the Japanese embassy in Sri Lankan capital Colombo.
Over the years, Japan has been one of the main sources of foreign aid to the Maldives. The most notable contributions made by Japan to the Maldives’ development include the building a seawall around capital Male and construction of several schools across the archipelago.
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom visited Japan last year. During his visit, the president met Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe and held official talks on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Palestinian Authority inaugurated its embassy Brasi’s capital city Brasilia Wednesday amid a diplomatic row between Brazil and Israel, reports telesurtv.net
The inauguration comes weeks after Brazil rejected Israel’s ambassador, a former leader of West Bank settlers.
Representatives of Arab countries and Arab Brazilians attended the event, hosted on land donated to the PA by former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
“This is the conclusion of a dream of mine that was also a dream of colleagues that came before me in this mission in the last four decades,” said Palestinian ambassador Ibrahim Alzeben. “I hope that this is the beginning of a new phase in relations between Brazil and Palestine, that they can be closer and more diversified.”
In Latin America, the Palestinian Authority also maintains embassies in Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Peru and Venezuela.

Tourists are giving London the cold shoulder and choosing to stay outside the British capital, driving profits up in the UK’s hospitality sector, reports the cityam.com website.
The average profit margin of hotels in the United Kingdom rose from 3.5 per cent in 2013/2014 to 4.5 per cent in 2014/2015 according to a new report by finance provider LDF.

And for the first time ever, international tourists are now more likely to travel outside London, pushing occupancy levels to an expected 77 per cent in non-London hotels, an all-time high.
When occupancy levels rise above 72 per cent, hotels can start raising their prices due to a shortage of space.
More than 18.5m tourists stayed in hotels outside London in the year to June 2015, up from 17.9m the previous year, and 16.5m in 2010/2011. This has contributed to a total annual turnover of approximately £15.9bn in each of the last two years.
However, Londoners don’t need to worry about a lack of tourists just yet. The latest data from Visit Britain proves that London is still in high demand, welcoming 17.4m tourists in 2014, an increase of 3.53 per cent year-on-year.
“Whilst London continues to be a hotspot for tourists, travelling beyond the capital is increasingly popular With international visitors and this is helping to drive up overall income within the sector,” says Peter Alderson, managing director of LDF.
Alderson added that competition from budget hotel chains and Airbnb means that smaller hotels across the country need to raise standards and increase investment in order to make the most of the occupancy boom.
