Belgium has announced the opening of four new embassies in Africa. The existing diplomatic bureaus in Cotonou (Benin), Conakry (Guinea), Bamako (Mali) and Niamey (Niger) will be upgraded to the status of embassy as of 1 February 2018, the cnbcafrica.com website reported.
The current upgrade reinforces all fields of the Belgian foreign policy in a comprehensive approach: bilateral cooperation, diplomacy, development cooperation, defence, security and justice. It will make it easier to align all these policies.

Through the upgrade to the status of embassy, our country will have henceforth full-fledged diplomatic representations in these four partner countries of the Belgian development cooperation. For the time being, the embassies will not provide additional consular services. The diplomatic offices were initially created as diplomatic offices for development cooperation.
The conversion will be implemented at a minimal cost. The current heads of mission will continue to manage the mission. Subsequently, new ambassadors will be posted on the occasion of the next diplomatic movements.

Hertugen og hertuginnen av Cambridge, prins William og hertuginne Catherine, kommer på offisielt besøk til Norge i dag torsdag 1.februar.
Velkomstseremoni på Slottsplassen, lunsj på slottet, besøk i Slottsparken og Prinsesse Ingrid Alexandras skulpturpark, besøk på Hartvig Nissens skole og møte med Skam-skuespillerne, møte med norske og britiske gründere, og tur til Holmenkollen og Tryvann er noen av postene på programmet.

Hertugparet blir møtt av Kronprins Haakon og Kronprinsesse Mette-Marit ved ankomsten til den militære delen av Oslo Lufthavn Gardermoen torsdag formiddag.
Kongeparet ønsker gjestene velkommen ved ankomst til Slottet, og etter en privat lunsj vil Hertugen og Hertuginnen bli vist rundt i Prinsesse Ingrid Alexandras skulpturpark.
På ettermiddagen besøker Hertugparet, ledsaget av Kronprinsen og Kronprinsessen, norske og britiske oppstartbedrifter og gründere i kontorfellesskapet MESH i Tordenskioldsgate i Oslo.
Kong Harald og Dronning Sonja er vertskap for en middag for prins William og hertuginne Kate på Slottet torsdag kveld.
Fredag formiddag tar hertugparet farvel med Kongen og Dronningen. Fra Slottet drar de britiske gjestene, ledsaget av Kronprinsparet, til Hartvig Nissens skole for å møte skaperne og skuespillerne bak suksess-serien «Skam». Det er introduksjon til diskusjoner med elever, lærere og skuespillere om de utfordringer som kan møte ungdom i oppvekst i dagens samfunn – identitetsproblemer, mobbing, seksuelle overgrep og spiseforstyrrelser.
Deretter er Hertugparet invitert til privat lunsj med Kronprinsparet på Skaugum.
Etter lunsj avsluttes besøket i Holmenkollen, med Kronprinsparet som kyndig vertskap. Først med et besøk i skimuseet, tårnet og hoppbakken. Deretter til Øvresetertjern ved Tryvann hvor prins William og hertuginne Catherine får møte barn og se hvordan lek og friluftsliv er en naturlig del av oppveksten i Norge.

Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has inaugurated Ghana’s first Embassy in Kuwait City in Kuwait, the ghanaweb.com website reported.

The foreign minister said the event marks an important milestone in the diplomatic relations between Ghana and Kuwait which dates back to the period when the Ghanaian embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was concurrently accredited to Kuwait.
Foreign Minister Ayorkor Botcwey said due to the increasing political and economic relations between both countries, Kuwait opened its embassy in Accra in 2015 and that Ghana decided last year to establish an embasy in Kuwait to accelerate the diplomatic, economic, investment and trade ties between the two countries.
Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey added that since there is a growing population of Ghanaians and Ghanaian students in various parts of Kuwait.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah praised the strong relations between the two countries, which have entered its 44th year since the establishment of official relations between them.
