Tunisia håper på et rekordår for landets turistnæring, etter en nær halvering av besøket som følge av terrorangrep, skriver TravelNews.no
– Vi sikter oss inn mot åtte millioner turister i år, og har sterke bookingtall fra europeiske kunder og andre nye kunder til å underbygge optimismen, sier landets turistminister Salma Loumi.
Blant annet har britiske turister begynt å vende tilbake, som turistministeren tar som et godt signal på en oppgang.
Åtte millioner turister betyr et enda høyere nivå enn før terroren rammet. I 2014 var besøket redusert radikalt som følge av angrepene rettet mot turister i feriebyen Sousse, der 39 mennesker ble drept, og mot nasjonalmuseet i hovedstaden Tunis i 2015, der 21 mennesker mistet livet, skrivet nettstedet.
I 2017 begynte oppgangen i besøkstallene, da turister fra Russland og Tunisias naboland Algerie vendte tilbake.
Disse turistene bruker imidlertid mindre penger enn for eksempel besøkende fra Nord-Europa, som man nå håper finner veien tilbake til Tunisia.

Alderman Derek Pickup, who has served as the chairman of the Bristol-Tbilisi Association, has been appointed the first honorary consul of Georgia in the United Kingdom.
Bristol and the Georgian capital Tbilisi have been twin cities since 1988.
