Iron Maiden, som ble startet i 1975, opptrer i Telenor Arena onsdag 15. juni. Oslo er ett av mange stopp på bandets The Book of Souls World Tour. Iron Maiden skal også opptre i Gøteborg, Herning i Danmark, og Hameenlinna i Finland, i løpet av juni. Hele turnelista ligger på bandets hjemmesider.

Turglade dronning Sonja trenger i sommer ikke gå lenger enn til Slottsparken hvis hun får lyst på en hyttetur. Den Norske Turistforening /DNT) har nemlig satt opp to hytter i parken i anledning kongeparets 25-årsjubileum, skriver NTB / NRK.

Byrådet i Oslo har økt parkeringsavgiften i sentrum av hovedstaden med 50 prosent, noe som kan ha kostet kommunen 85 millioner kroner. Dette fordi færre bilister parkerer på avgiftsplassene, melder NRK.
Færre parkerer på betalingsplassene og gratisplasser for elbiler tar stadig flere av plassene.

Slovenia today opened a consulate in Oslo which is to be led by honorary consul Knut Ore, the Slovenian STA news agency reported.
The opening ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, among them Slovenian deputy foreign minister Darja Bavda-Kuret, her Norwegian counterpart Tore Hattrem and Slovenian Ambassador to Norway Tone Kajzer, who resided in Copenhagen, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry said.

The President of the Republic of Poland, Mr Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda today began a three-day state visit to Norway, and was received by HM King Harald, 79, HM Queen Sonja, 78, HRH Crown Prince Haakon and HRH Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and HH Princess Astrid, the King’s older sister, outside the Royal Palace in Oslo for the formal welcoming ceremony.
The president also met with Speaker of Parliament Mr Olemic Thomessen and Prime Minister Mrs Erna Solberg, and laid a wreath at the National Monument in a ceremony at Akershus Castle and Fortress.
Tonight the King and Queen will host a state banquet for the president and his wife at the Royal Palace. On the last day of the visit the president and the Royals will also visit the cities of Narvik and Bodø in northern Norway.
Some 200,000 Polish nationals lives in Norway, half of them on a permanent basis. More than 300,000 Norwegian visited Poland in 2015, and the number of Polish tourists in Norway is increasing.
The King and Queen has paid a state visit to Poland twice, and three Polish presidents have visited Norway over the years.

Polen og Norge samarbeider på en rekke områder, og Polen er blant Norges ti viktigste handelspartnere. Over 100 000 polske statsborgere bor fast i Norge, og omtrent like mange er her for kortere tid.
Godt over 300 000 nordmenn besøkte Polen i 2015, og stadig flere polske turister reiser til Norge. Det er mye vennskapelig kamp på idrettsarenaene, ikke minst i skisporene, og polske storhoppere er populære deltakere i Holmenkollen.
Det er tredje gang et polsk presidentpar avlegger statsbesøk til Norge. Kong Harald og Dronning Sonja har også selv vært på statsbesøk i Polen ved to anledninger. Besøket som startet i dag vil bidra til å styrke det gode samarbeidet ytterligere.
Besøket ble innledet med en høytidelig seremoni på Slottsplassen i formiddag. Våre lands nasjonalsanger ble avsunget, før President Duda inspiserte et æreskompani fra Kongens Garde, ledsaget av Hans Majestet Kongen. Presidentparet ble presentert for representanter for det offisielle Norge, og tok seg også tid til å hilse på barn med norske og polske flagg som hadde møtt fram for å se seremonien. Inne på Slottet var det offisiell fotografering i Fugleværelset og etterfulgt av gaveoverrekkelse
Etter velkomstseremonien ledsaget Kong Harald President Duda til Akershus festning. Dronning Sonja og fru Kornhauser-Duda var også til stede, da Presidenten la ned krans ved Nasjonalmonumentet til minne om dem som falt under 2. verdenskrig.
Polske tropper og marinefartøy deltok under kampene om Narvik i maidagene 1940. I dette slaget mistet 97 polske soldater livet. Slaget ble Nazi-Tysklands første tap under krigen, og vil bli gjenstand for en egen markering på statsbesøkets siste dag.
Fra Akershus reiste President Duda videre til møter med Stortingspresidenten og med statsminister Erna Solberg.
Dronning Sonja ledsaget fru Kornhauser-Duda til Nasjonalgalleriet og videre til lystslottet Oscarshall på Bygdøy. Her fikk de se sentrale bilder i samlingen, som blant annet omfatter en variant av Edvard Munchs «Skrik».
På Oscarshall kunne Dronning Sonja selv ta rollen som guide. Årets utstilling på Galleri Dronning Joséphine er «Smakebiter», som viser deler av Dronningens egen samling av kunstglass.
I kveld er det gallamiddag på Det kongelige slott. Kong Harald og Dronning Sonja holder middag til ære for Polens presidentpar. Kronprins Haakon og Prinsesse Astrid, fru Ferner, vil også være til stede under middagen.
Statsbesøket fortsetter i morgen med næringslivsseminar, foredrag av Presidenten og demonstrasjon fra Luftforsvaret på Akershus festning. Der blir det også en lunsj i regjeringens regi, før følget reiser til Bodø og senere til Narvik, hvor statsbesøkets siste dag utspiller seg.

Her Royal Highness Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway on 19 May opened a sculpture park bearing her name, in the Royal Palace Park in Oslo. The 12 year old princess, who is second in line to the Norwegian throne, opened the park together with her grandfather, HM King Harald V, and the rest of the Royal Family.

Torsdag 19. mai ble Prinsesse Ingrid Alexandras Skulpturpark åpnet i Slottsparken i Oslo.
Hennes Kongelige Høyhet Prinsessen sto selv for avdukingen, og tusen små og store gjester var på plass, skriver Slottet på sine hjemmesider.
Prinsesse Ingrid Alexandras Skulpturpark er en park av barn – for barn. Den etableres i anledning Kongeparets 25-årsjubileum, og både Kong Harald, Dronning Sonja, Kronprins Haakon, Kronprinsesse Mette-Marit, Prins Sverre Magnus og Prinsesse Astrid, fru Ferner, var til stede sammen med Prinsesse Ingrid Alexandra.
Hans Majestet Kong Harald holdt åpningstale og ønsket alle barna velkommen.
– Denne dagen har vi i Kongefamilien gledet oss til. I mange år har vi ønsket oss en skulpturpark spesielt for barn. Og endelig står den klar, foreløpig med tre skulpturer. To av dem er helt nye, den tredje har stått på Akershus festning. Etter hvert skal det bli flere.
Og skulpturene er for barn, kunne Kongen forsikre:
– De er her for dere, de er til å ta på, og ikke bare til pynt.
Og barna tok Kong Harald på ordet – det tok ikke lang tid fra avdukingen til skulpturene var i bruk.
Skulpturene er de første fra en landsomfattende konkurranse som skal gå over flere år og resultere i totalt 10 skulpturer. Parken er en gave fra Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.

De to nye skulpturene som ble avduket i dag, er “Geometrisk rev” og “Kanin i trøbbel” laget av Sofie Sollid Gjertsen, Setermoen skole i Bardu i Troms, og Emma Hansen, Ballangen skole i Ballangen i Nordland.

Deres to bidrag ble valgt ut blant flere hundre bidrag fra Nord-Norge. Det er barna som har tegnet, mens håndverkere har bygget selve skulpturene.
I tillegg til de to, er “Putemann” av Jonas Gjerstad, Martin Danning og Mathias Svendsen fra Sagdalen skole i Skedsmo i Akershus lånt ut fra skulpturstien på Akershus festning.
De kongelige tok seg god tid til å se på de nye skulpturene og snakke med formgiverne, som også var til stede.
900 barnehagebarn var gjester ved arrangementet, og sammen med voksne ledsagere fikk de servert boller og saft av Hoffets ansatte. 2500 boller og 400 liter saft gikk med.
Hans Majestet Kongens Garde spilte, og ledet an i “Norge i rødt, hvitt og blått”, som barnehagebarna hadde øvd på for anledningen.

Today, 17 May, Norway celebrates it’s National Day / Constitution Day, with the traditional school children’s parades, marching bands, entertainment, parties and cultural events all over the country of five million people.
The celebration of the National Day is a major annual tourist attraction in Oslo.
Norwegians all over the world marks the National Day – one of the biggest events took place in London, where some 7000 Norwegian expats joined in the celebrations.

This year, a record number of 119 schools from within the City of Oslo, and more than 60,000 children took part in the parade.

For more than 100 years, the Royal Family has greeted the Constitution Day children’s parade in Oslo from the balcony of the Royal Palace.
The very first celebration of May 17th is thought to have taken place in Trondheim in 1815, one year after the Constitution was drafted and adopted by the National Assembly at Eidsvoll. In 1836 the Storting celebrated May 17th for the first time and this is considered to be the date on which 17 May officially became Constitution Day in Norway.
King Carl Johan, who ruled over Norway and Sweden from 1818 to 1844, regarded the May 17th celebrations – and Norway’s independent Constitution – as revolutionary acts and a provocation against Sweden. In 1828 he prohibited the celebration of Constitution Day. However, following the death of King Carl Johan in 1844, there was a change of strategy. In 1845, his successor, King Oscar I attended the May 17th celebrations, and greeted the banner parade from the palatial estate, where the Royal Family stayed during visits to Christiania.
King Oscar I was also the first king to wave from the Palace balcony, albeit not on 17 May, but on 26 July 1849, when the Royal Palace in Christiania was finally completed.
Marking special days or festivals with celebrations involving parades with banners, music and singing was common in the past. A school headmaster, Peter Qvam, is thought to have come up with the idea of holding the first children’s parade in Norway in 1869. Qvam was a friend of the author Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. Both argued keenly in favour of organising a children’s parade to celebrate Constitution Day.
The following year, in 1870, the first children’s parade marched to the Palace, stopping to sing the royal anthem beneath the Palace balcony.
Only boys, some 1,200 in all and most of them from Qvam’s school in Christiania, took part in the first children’s parade. It was not until 1889 that girls, pupils from Mrs Ragna Nielsen’s school, were allowed to join the parade. Møllergata school was the first school to have its own band in 1902. The current celebration of the graduates-to-be from upper secondary school dates back to 1905, when the graduating class took part in the May 17th parade for the first time.
It was King Haakon and Queen Maud who introduced the custom of greeting the children’s parade from the Palace balcony in 1906. The custom has been upheld ever since. The only exceptions were in 1910, when the Royal Family was in England for the funeral of Queen Maud’s father, King Edward VII, and during World War II from 1940 to1944.
By 17 May 1945 Crown Prince Olav had returned from London, where he had lived in exile during the war years. That year he was in position on the Palace balcony to greet the 202,000 schoolchildren, who were once again allowed to celebrate 17 May after five years of occupation.
Each year the Royal Family gathers to greet the children’s parade from the Palace balcony. Her Royal Highness Princess Ingrid Alexandra is the fifth generation to honour this tradition.

The constitution of Norway was signed on 17 May 1814 at The Eidvoll House, north of Oslo, by the Constitutional Assembly. This famous 285 x 400 centimeter oil painting by artist Oscar Arnold Wergeland (1844-1910) from 1885, called “Eidsvold 1814”, today hangs behind the Speaker’s chair in the Assembly chamber Norway’s parliament, The Storting.
The painting shows Christian Magnus Falsen, the Constitutional Assembly’s president – and known as “Father of the Constitution” – reading out the document, while the assembly’s secretary, Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie, sits next to him on the right. Only 70 of the 112 assemblymen are shown on the painting.

Midt under hotellstreiken åpnet Petter Stordalen (53) et nytt hotell, Comfort Hotel, uten fagorganiserte, på Karl Johan i Oslo, skriver VG.
Det var så trangt i bakgården, som leder inn til Stordalens nyeste hotell i hovedstaden, at servitørene hadde problemer med å balansere brettene med kanapeer i folkemengden, skriver nettstedet.
– Endelig har Nordic Choice landet i Norges paradegate nummer 1: Karl Johan, ropte Petter Stordalen da han inntok scenen.
Kommunikasjonsansvarlig i Fellesforbundet, Vidar Grønli, tar Stordalens hotellfest midt under streiken med stor ro.
– Jeg regner med at han har planlagt lanseringen av hotellet over lengre tid, sier han til VG.
Petter Stordal har brukt tre år og investert 300 millioner kroner på det nye hotellet, som har 184 rom.
