The Royal Family greets well wishers on Palace Square, from the balcony of the Royal Palace in Oslo. Last week, on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday, H.M.King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway hosted a joint celebration of their respective 80 year birthays, with royal guests from all over Europe attending celebrations at the Royal Palace, the royal yacht, the “Norge”, and at the Oslo Opera House.
The King’s birthday was on 21 February, and the Queen turns 80 on 4 July.
In January 2016, King Harald and Queen Sonja celebrated their 25th anniversary as monarchs.
