Holidaymakers will soon be able to spend the night in a hotel on one of the most famous rivers in the world, www.dailymail.co.uk reportred.

Plans for a floating hotel on the River Seine in Paris were revealed this week, with officials saying it will be housed in a converted catamaran.

The three-star hotel, called Off-Paris Seine, will have 54 rooms and four suites, and there will be nothing else like it in the French capital, according to the planners.

Off-Paris Seine is scheduled to open next spring, with rooms that cost between 160 euros (£115) and 450 euros (£320) a night, a 50ft swimming pool and a terrace, The Local reported.

The hotel will be located near Charles de Gaulle Bridge along the Quai d’Austerlitz in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, which until September was home to a camp for hundreds of migrants, who slept in tents.

Nearby, visitors will be able to browse shops in the city’s main Asian district, visit the National Library of France or check out the trendy shops or restaurants at Butte-aux-Cailles.

Further out, guests can take a 20-minute walk to Notre-Dame Cathedral or Paris’ Latin Quarter.

Set on the Left Bank of the Seine, Off-Paris Hotel cost about ?11million to build, and is the brainchild of boutique hotel chain Elegancia and Citysurfing, a company that specialises in floating structures, The Local reported.

Gerard Ronzatti, the architect, told the website that guests will feel some “rocking” from the waves of passing boats, but they won’t suffer motion sickness due to the design of the hotel, which has two articulated floats.

The hotel is being built in Normandy and will be towed to its spot on the Seine in a few weeks.

While it may be the first hotel of its kind in Paris, it is not the only place where tourists can sleep on the Seine.

There are a number of private or Airbnb listings for houseboats, with rooms costing anywhere from £80 to £150 a night.
